Custodian Downloads

An interview custodian can download interviews as either Guarded Playback (encrypted) or Original (unencrypted) download files.

To download a video file, open the interview you are needing to download and scroll down to the list of files under the video player.

Select the check boxes next to the files you want to download, including video files, and click the small "download" icon that appears at the top right of your list of files.

A "Request Download Package" box will appear. Name your package whatever you would like to name the file when it is saved on your computer, and then check whether you would like the video files to be "original" or "Guarded Playback."

Note: Guarded Playback files are designed to allow custodians the ability to disable the playback of those files in the event that a downloaded copy is lost or mishandled. Guarded Playback requires an internet connection in order to be viewed. Original downloads do not have this additional layer of security and do not require an internet connection in order to be viewed.

Once you click request, it will prompt you that the video package may take up to 10 minutes to process. Users will receive an email notification and notification in Guardify when the package is available to download.

Once you receive the email notification that your download is ready, return to the interview you are needing to download and go to "My Download Packages." There you will see your requested download, with a status of "ready." Click the download icon to download the requested files.

Alternatively, if you want to download one single video file, you can click the 3-dot menu to the right of the file you want to download, and select which type of download you want. Choosing Guarded Playback will take you through the process of creating a download package. Choosing "original" will prepare the file for download, and then allow you to download the file directly to your computer.
