How to Download Interview Files
Downloading a single file in an interview can be done by clicking the 3-dot menu to the right of the file. On most files, clicking this will give you the option to "Download File." Click this to download the file directly to your computer.
To view the file properties click on "File Properties". A File Properties screen will appear. To download the file properties, click on the download arrow button.
Note: For more information about File Properties, click here
On streaming video or audio files, you may have the option to choose between the original unencrypted file, or a secure encrypted download.
There may be two options available if download permission was given to the user when the interview was shared:
- "Download Encrypted" will allow the user to create a secure, encrypted download package of the file that was uploaded by the CAC. This option will prompt the user to name and request a download package. This download package will be available in the users "My Download Packages" tab after the download has been requested. See the "creating a download package" section below for more details.
- "Download Original" will allow the user to download the original, unencrypted file that was uploaded to Guardify by the CAC. This file does not have any security attached to the file. Selecting "download original" will download the file directly to the user's computer.
If neither option is available, this means the ability to download was not given when the interview was shared with you. Please contact the person who shared the interview with you to request download access.
Creating a Download Package with Multiple Files
When logging into Guardify to view an interview, prosecution users can download multiple files at once by clicking the checkboxes to the left of each file they'd like to download.
Once files are selected, a purple Create Download Package box will appear at the top right of the list of files. Click this button to create your download package.
Note: if there are no check boxes available to select, this means the ability to download was not given when the interview was shared with you. Please contact the person who shared the interview with you to request download access.
A "Request Download Package" box will appear, allowing you to name your package and preview all the selected files. For any files uploaded as streaming video or audio, you’ll have the option to encrypt them. Additionally, you can choose to password-protect the download package and/or include file properties as either a single file or multiple individual files.
Note: Review the contents that are being requested to download by clicking the "package contents" drop down.
Once you have reviewed your selections, click "request."
Once you have requested a download package, a new package will appear in the "My Download Packages" tab. The status will show as "Preparing" while the system processes your download package. This will take about 5 to 10 minutes. The user will receive an email when that download is ready.
Note: View the download instructions by clicking "View Download Instructions" at the top right of the download package.
When the download package is ready, you will receive an email that says "Guardify Download Available." The status of the download package will change to "ready" and you can click the download icon to the right of the download package.
This file will download directly to your computer as a zip file. You can then extract that file and view the files on your computer.
Note: the .zip file must be saved as the un-extracted .zip file if moved to another drive or file storage system.
