Sharing with Original Download Permissions

Centers have the ability to share their forensic interviews with individual users with the ability to download them in two different formats. "Guarded Playback," which includes additional playback security features on the file, as well as the "Original" download type. The Original Download is the original file that was initially uploaded to Guardify without the additional playback security features.

License Managers may permit themselves and other users to share with Original Downloads. To do this, the license manager must go to the Users & Groups list to turn on "Manage Download Permissions" for their user account. Then, they can turn on "Sharing with Original downloads" for any other user with the Manager or Interviewer user role. Click here for more information about editing user permissions.

Once "Sharing with Original Downloads" has been turned on for a Manager or Interviewer, that user will have the option to choose between download types when they share an interview.

To share an interview when logged into Guardify, select "Interviews" in the lefthand menu, and then find the interview you wish to share. Select Share from the 3-dot menu on the interview card OR when working within the interview, click Share in the top right corner. 

From the share access page, select the user you wish to share the interview with, then make the selections for which permissions you'd like the user to have.

To give someone the ability to download, check the "download" check box. Once this box is checked, a drop down box will appear. By default, the Guarded Playback download option will be selected. To change this, click the drop down box and select "Original."

When the "Original" option is selected, it will give that user a choice between Original or Guarded Playback downloading.

For three days following the share, the videos will be preloaded and ready for immediate download, and users will see a "Ready" icon next to the "Download original" option.

After three days, the video is still available for download until the share expires, but users will need to click the "Download Original" option to prepare that file for download again. They will see a "Preparing" icon next to the download option. That preparation process takes 10-15 minutes. Users will be notified as soon as their download is ready.

Note: Once the original video has been downloaded out of Guardify, additional viewing activity will not be logged in the Interview history. An original download can be uploaded into other systems, does not require login to Guardify, or an internet connection to be played. These files also cannot be disabled once they are downloaded. Please handle with caution.
