Viewing a Transcript

Each interview that is uploaded into Guardify can have a transcript generated by artificial intelligence. The interview custodian can choose to share the interview transcript with others. The transcript can be accessed at any time or downloaded as a text file.

Once you have clicked into an interview card, click on the 3-dot menu in the interview. Click View Transcript.

The transcript will pop up for you to read through, or you can click download to download it directly to your computer.

Note: if there are multiple videos in an interview, there will only be a transcript available for the primary video in the interview. This will be the first video listed in the small thumbnails above the video player. The video with transcript/closed captioning available will show "CC" in the thumbnail.

If you click the 3-dot menu and instead of View Transcript you see Transcribe Video, this means that you are the first person to try to access the transcript, and the video still needs to be transcribed.

When you click Transcribe Video, a pop-up will alert you that the transcript is now processing. It should be available in approximately half the length of the video itself, so for example, a 1-hour video will take 30 minutes for a transcript to be processed.

Once the process has been completed, you can go back to the 3-dot menu in the interview card, and click View/Edit Transcript. This will then pop up the generated transcript.

If you do not have either of these options available to you, this means that the custodian of the interview has not shared the transcript with you, and you will need to contact them directly to request that the closed captioning option be shared with you.
